About

I'm Conor. When I moved into a new home, my mother gave me a small Irish good-luck gift, and it's still one of my favourite presents. That's the idea behind Rowan & Rite: the little rituals people already enjoy at the end of a long week, with the Irish meaning put back in. Irish folklore is full of them, for the turning of the year and for life's moments, and most are simple enough to keep on an ordinary evening.

Every ritual on this site comes from Irish folklore, from archives such as the Schools' Collection on dĂșchas.ie and the folklife collections of the National Museum of Ireland, and each page lists its sources. I put each box together by hand in Ireland, with a short printed guide to the ritual and a link to a video.

I use AI behind the scenes for things like checking sources and running the shop, but it never writes what you read here.
